The Autumn Goddess Mask has it's final coat of paint.  All that is left is the last bits of embellishment (maybe some sparkles and beads) and an elastic band to hold it in place.

1st mask form completed and ready to fit and decorate.

I am working on masks for the masquerade ball next month.  I am thinking either fire dragon or phoenix and an Autumn Goddess for my companion.

The first form is finished and ready to decorate.  I made it with Ultra-light by Sculpey. 

I will be posting pic's of all of the masks in progress so please come back often to see where I am at. 

I also welcome any suggestions and comments that you may have on techniques and materials.  I have not made masks like this before so your encouragement and gentle critiques are greatly appreciated.

Halloween Giveaway giftee from Vania Cruz-Perez

I just received the most amazing Halloween giveaway from Vania Cruz-Perez.  I was not expecting such a fancy gift.  I will save and re-use these ribbons for my Halloween give-away.

I love it and it is perfect for the costume I am working on for next month's Masquerade Ball.  I am planing on being a phoenix or a fire dragon. 

 

The pendant looks just like a flame.  It's perfect!  Don't you think?

I didn't even know that she did any glass work.  I mainly know her dolls and fantasy art, which is a real treat for me because I love witches and glitter and she combines the two very well!

I have been practicing cutting out shapes with my jeweler's saw.  I am still just starting to get the hang of it.  My cutting is still a bit rough but, I got the shape cut out and it's not too bad.  I plan on doing a bit more practicing and then creating some etched copper shapes and cutting out to use in my jewelry designs.

I really appreciate all of the tips and comments of encouragement from everyone.  It really has been great to have that extra bit of motivation to keep me going.  I almost gave up today when I couldn't find my stash of blades any where.  i had put them in a "safe place"  so that they wouldn't get stepped on, broken, or thrown away.  I need to find a better, permanent container for them.  Right now they are in plastic baggies and those plastic straws that honey comes in. 

Does anyone have any good suggestions for storing jeweler's saw blades?  Where/how do you store yours to keep them from breaking and getting lost?   

 As a beginner I am still welcoming any hints, tips, or encouraging comments that might make my learning curve with the saw a little smoother.
