Sometimes I feel like I must be an alien from another galaxy or at least another planet. I get funny looks from people, especially other women, when they find out that I cook my own meals. To top that bazaar notion off, not only do I prepare my own meals but, I also bake (breads, cakes, cookies, and pastries), grow most of my own fruits and vegetables, and I even mix my own blends and I grind my own spices, by hand, without the help of a spice grinder.
I really enjoy the whole process from start to finish. When I present my family and loved ones with a meal I take pride in knowing that I am giving the best that I have to offer. Our bodies are made up of what we put into them and so, shouldn't we only eat the very best that is available? I am constantly perplexed at the reasons why this is such a foreign concept????
Does anyone out there still grind their own spices? Perhaps we are from the same galaxy???
I grow a lot of our own food, including many herbs and spices. Not all of them, but I do grind the ones I gather fresh from the garden. And I make most everything from scratch. I think many people who reach for a box or a can of something to fix don't realize that it's truly not that much more work to start with individual ingredients. And of course the end result is usually healthier and tastier, not to mention the entire "giving of oneself" that goes into a home created meal. Of course I do enjoy a meal created FOR me as well, although this requires a friend or restaurant as hubby can't do much past boiling water.
